Judging Criteria

The Pomeranian Club retains the right to close any list in order to maintain the balance of breed specialists and non-specialists, or because the number of judges is sufficient to fulfil the breed’s current judging requirements. Waiting lists at such a time will be maintained in strict order of application.

To apply to be included on one of The Pomeranian Club's judging list's please email your CV to [email protected] outlining your suitability.
A1 Roll of Honour. For judges who have awarded CCs in the breed but no longer wish to accept appointments.
A1 List. For judges who have previously been approved by the Kennel Club to award CCs in the breed, have completed their first appointment and have the support of The Pomeranian Club.
A2 List. For judges who fulfil all the requirements for this list, who have been assessed in accordance with the Kennel Club requirements and accepted by the Kennel Club for inclusion on an A2 list, and have the support of The Pomeranian Club. Assessment is completed by three different assessors while the aspirant judges the breed at an Open Show or a Championship Show without CCs. (The aspirant must apply to the Secretary of The Pomeranian Club to ask for assessors to be appointed at least THREE months before the date of the show at which they wish to be assessed. ) All assessors will have been approved by the Kennel Club, will not exhibit at a show when assessing, nor will any member of their family exhibit at the show.
A3 List. (Breed Specialists only) For judges who are recommended by The Pomeranian Club as being suitable to award CCs in the breed, but not yet approved by The Kennel Cub for inclusion on the A2 list. Requirements include:
i. A minimum of 7 years judging experience in the breed, and have the support of The Pomeranian Club.
ii. Judging at a Breed Club’s Open Show and/or Breed Club Supported Entry Show.
iii. To have judged a minimum of 75 classes at Open Shows or Championship Shows without CCs
AT LEAST 175 dogs present to be judged, over an adequate geographical spread.
iv. To have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained the first entry in The Kennel
Club Stud Book.
v. To have attended a Seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the relevant
examination on Kennel Club Regulations and Judging Procedure.
vi. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on Conformation and
Movement, and to have attended at least one breed specific seminar, run in accordance with the
Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.
vii. To have attended at least one breed specific seminar, organised/recognised by this Club, run in
accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or
assessment where applicable.
viii. To have stewarded at 12 shows.
ix. To have bred or owned a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their 1st entry in The Kennel Club
Stud Book. (Save in exceptional circumstances.)
A3 List Non Specialists. Require include the approval of The Pomeranian Club and:
i. Minimum of 7 years judging experience in any one breed, and 5 years experience of judging
Pomeranians.
ii. To have judged a minimum of 75 classes at Open Shows or Championship Shows without CCs over
an adequate geographical area, at which AT LEAST 175 Pomeranians were present to be judged.
iii. To have awarded CCs in at least one other breed.
iv. To have attended at least one breed specific seminar, organised/recognised by this club, run in
accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or
assessment where applicable.
v. To have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs of any breed when they have obtained their first
entry in The Kennel Club Stud Book. (Save in exceptional circumstances.)
B List Breed Specialists. Requirements include the approval of The Pomeranian Club and:
i. Minimum of 3 years judging experience in the breed.
ii. To have judged a minimum of 12 classes in the breed at Open shows or Championship Shows
without CCs covering a reason geographical spread of the country.
iii. To have judged a minimum of 48 Pomeranians.
iv. To have attended at least one Breed specific Seminar, preferably organised by The Pomeranian Club
and passed an assessment where applicable.
B List Non Specialists. Requirements include the support of The Pomeranian Club and a minimum of 5 Years judging experience in another breed.
i. To have judged a minimum of 12 classes in Pomeranians at Open Shows and Championship Shows
without CCs.
ii. To have judged a minimum of 48 Pomeranians.
iii. Preferably to have attended a Breed Seminar organised by The Pomeranian Club.
C List. Breed Specialists. Requirements include the support of The Pomeranian Club and involvement with Pomeranians for a minimum of FIVE years.
C List Non Specialists. Requirements include the support of The Pomeranian Club and evidence of a distinct interest in the breed.
