Open Show
January 14th - Mrs Mea Kendall (Headra)
Our Judge Mea Kendall started the Headra Affix 36 years ago with her mother, who had Cavaliers from the early 1960s. She was introduced to dogs and horses at a very early age.
Once she left school it became harder to keep the horses so her love for 4 legged creatures progressed more into dogs and especially Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, but also the whole of the Toy Group.
In 1996 she had her first King Charles Spaniel, still the breed she lives with and started her judging career. She has judged all over the world from Australia, America, Denmark, and Czech Republic. She currently awards CCs in the UK in 9 Toy breeds.

Championship Show
March 31st - Mr Tony Fleetwood (Auberge/Abbeyleigh)
I have had dogs in life as long as I remember, my Grandad bred GSDs. My affix, Auberge was granted in 1991. My first show breed was the Japanese Akita in 1985, this is not a breed you can keep many of but I managed to breed two Champions and another with 2CCs and 3RCCs. I bought my first Pom in 1994 for my eldest daughter from Joan Philips, Chambecc Cider With Rosie; looking back she would do very well in the ring today and lived to 18 years old. I bought other foundation stock from Helen and David Turnbull (Pyropom) and Harry and Vivien Reid (Kintrix). Two other breeders who guided me through the early days were Pat Gaskell (Marshbury) and Derek Hill (Derronills), both successful breeders with strong opinions on the breed. The best advice given to me by Pat Gaskell was if you want the best you have to breed it for yourself. Wise words which I now stress to new exhibitors.
I met my wife Brenda in 2000 and together we amalgamated our breeding lines. Dogs that we have bred or owned that have made up into Champions include our foundation stud dog Ch Kintrix A Kind of Magic at Pyropom, Ch Keisyl Tinkerbell at Abbeyleigh, Ch Abbeyleigh Miranda, Ch Abbeyleigh Dexterity, Ch Kimimela The Dashing Prince by Abbeyleigh, Ch Abbeyleigh Missandei at Pomeyre and USA CH A Affirmation, A English Cream and A Black Velvet. A number of other Poms bred or owned by us have gained CCs and RCCs. I have also owned and shown Mini Dachshund, German Spitz Mittel, Shih Tzu and Smooth Coat Chihuahua.
Poms are not a breed for the faint hearted with so many pit falls along the way, many times we have contemplated giving up when you lose puppies or a show hopeful, even your oldies, but eventually you regain enthusiasm and move forward. The future of the breed depends on many aspects which we need to embrace including new bloodlines and new exhibitors who will stay in the breed with fresh ideas and enthusiasm. What better place than a Breed Club show to meet other exhibitors and ask questions. After judging I will gladly answer any questions that you would like to ask.
What a privilege it is to be invited to judge the Pomeranian Club Championship Show as the highlight of my judging career to date, having judged the Scottish Pom Ch in 2013, the SoEPC Ch in 2018 and the PCoSW in 2020. I am looking forward to this appointment and can assure all exhibitors that I will judge the breed to the very best of my ability. In the knowledge that every exhibit will be given equal consideration, remember it’s the dogs that are being judged.
